Pushpa Pushpalingham (Mahes)
Rotary Club of Cannington

Pushpa and his family migrated in 1981. His Australian career started off in a Small Animal Veterinarian Practice and over the years he has established four clinics in Perth’s outer suburbs.

After establishing his practice, Pushpa took an active interest in the Australian Veterinary Association and was elected as President of the WA branch in 1995. He has also been an active member of the Veterinary Practice Managers Association and held the position of Vice President.

Pushpa was awarded the Meritorious Service Award for services to the Veterinary profession in 1996.

Pushpa joined the Rotary Club of Cannington in 1985 and has served as Sergeant, International Director, Treasurer and President in 2000-01. He has also served on the District Interact and Rotaract Committees and as Rotaract Chairman in 2004–05. Pushpa was an Assistant Governor in 2005–06 and 2006–07.

Since arriving in Australia both Pushpa and Mahes have travelled extensively within Australia and overseas, mainly returning to Malaysia to visit relatives. They have also visited Europe, USA and Canada. Mahes is a teacher at the Cyril Jackson Campus. Pushpa and Mahes have two sons who have now completed their tertiary education.

Pushpa’s interests outside of Rotary include Cricket, Hockey, Squash, Golf and Bridge.

D.K. Lee (Young Ja)
Seoul, Korea

Dong-Kurn Lee is Chairman of Bu-Bang Co., Ltd. and Bubang Techron Co., Ltd., manufacturing
companies in Seoul. A graduate of Yonsei University with a degree in political science and diplomacy, Lee currently serves as Trustee to the Busan College of Information Technology and has served as past president of both his high school and college alumni associations. He
has served as a Trustee to the bank of Seoul and honorary consul of Italy in Korea.

In 2005, he was appointed as International Goodwill Ambassador by the President of the Republic of Korea. Rotarian Lee joined the Rotary Club of Seoul-Hangang in 1971 and has served RI as director, treasurer, trustee, district governor and International Assembly training leader.

He has also served as regional Rotary Foundation coordinator, zone and regional coordinator for membership development. He is chairman of the Polio Eradication Private Sector Initiative in Korea.

He is a recipient of the foundation’s citation for meritorious service. In 1996, as district governor, Lee was recognised at the 87th RI Convention as the winner of the ‘Calgary Challenge’ for the most successful membership development efforts, chartering 32 new clubs and adding nearly 1,800 new members, making his district the leader across the Rotary world that year.

Lee lives in Seoul, Korea with his wife Young Ja and has four adult children and four grandchildren.

John Lawrence (Janet)
Rotary Club of Brisbane Planetarium, Distrct 9600

John began his professional life as a civil engineer, before moving to the computer industry. Prior to serving as District Governor in 2000–01, he completed 41/2 years employment with Microsoft as a marketer and technical advisor. He and his wife Janet, who is also a Rotarian, now run a business providing specialist writing services and advising on new technologies. John and Janet are both multiple Paul Harris Fellows and charter members of the Foundation Bequest Society.

John joined Rotary in 1988 and he was President of the Canberra-Woden Club in 1992-1993. During 1996-97, John served as an Assistant Governor in D9710, and also that year he convened the Internet/Technology committee that created D9710’s web site and instigated the Australian Rotary presence at www.rotary.org.au.

John and Janet moved to Brisbane in December 2003, and he soon became an enthusiastic supporter of RAWCS Northern Region and particularly its Donations in Kind Store.Working with Rotarians to assist their training is his special passion, and he has done so as District 9600 Trainer (2005-06), District D9710 Trainer (2002-03), National Train the Trainer Facilitator (Wagga Wagga Institute 2003) and Leader Trainer of Australian DGNs (DGs 2007-08).

His international service has focused strongly on multi-district projects in Thailand, Indonesia, Solomon Islands and Sri Lanka.

John received a ‘Service Above Self Award’ in 2006 in acknowledgement of his wide-ranging contributions both within the district and beyond. In the 2007 Australia Day Honours List he received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), an acknowledgement of his contribution to the community through Rotary and the Anglican Church.

Ian Jones (Robyn)
Rotary Club of Wyalkatchem

Ian joined the Wyalkatchem Rotary Club in 1994, after hosting a Mexican exchange student and realising the wonderful programs run by Rotary.

Ian has been President (1997–98 and 2004–05) and Sergeant at Arms twice, as well as serving as Membership Director and has been a Club Service committee member. Ian is an active fundraiser and community helper and is committed to furthering the cause of Rotary. Ian was an Assistant Governor in 2007–2008. In his role, he has enjoyed serving his local community and visiting the adjacent communities of Cunderdin, Quairading, Northam and Corrigin.

Ian attended Christchurch Grammar School, where his claim to fame was coxing the winning Head of the River team in 1967. At 16 he returned to the family farm ‘Blairathol’, where he has farmed successfully for the past 39 years, 32 as a sole owner/operator and Managing Director.

Ian is currently Deputy Chief Fire Control Officer of the local shire and was instrumental in the demise of huge Bushfires in November 1998. Ian was SES Group Leader and co-ordinator of programs for the group. Ian underwent training in Perth to plan and present courses to local groups and participated in displays held at country shows using the ‘jaws of life’ and other emergency equipment.

Ian married Robyn in 1974 and has 3 children, sons Roland (29), Noel (27) and a precious daughter Jomelle (19). They live on their property ‘Blairathol’ Farm.

Ian still enjoys refereeing the occasional game of football or basketball as he has umpired for 20 years. He plays pennant bowls. His other interests are water-skiing, teaching people to ski and following ‘The Eagles’ and his children’s sport.

David Bolt
Rotary Club of Corrigin

AG for: Corrigin, Cunderdin, Quiarading, Wyalkatchem

David is married to Chris and has 4 married daughters and 8 grandchildren. He has been farming in Corrigin since 1973 after moving from Sth. Aus.

David joined Rotary in 1994 after being very involved in the Corrigin Community. He served as President for the P&C at the school and the Corrigin Football club for 7 years, as well as other community committees.
Since joining Rotary he has been President 4 times and has also had several directorships in the club.

For his service to the Rotary Club of Corrigin he was presented with a PHF in 2002. David and Chris are looking forward to supporting Pushpa and Mahes in their year.
 
                       
Ken Cockman
Rotary Club of Gosnells

AG for: Armadale, Armadale-Neerigen Brook, Byford & Districts, Darling Range, Rossmoyne

Ken has been a member of the Rotary Club of Gosnells for thepast seven years serving as Directors for Vocational, Community service twice, Club Service and President. He has also been the District Chairman of RYPEN for the past three years and assisted with RYLA.

Ken works as a Lawn Mowing Contractor. He is married to Beryl with five adult children between them and they live in Gosnells with their spoilt dog. When Ken is not involved in Rotary activities he visits his property in Toodyay, building model railways and the odd game of golf.

Ken is looking forward to the challenge in the role as Assistant Governor and pleased to be on the team with Pushpa.
 
       
Clint Fricker
Rotary Club of Ballajura-Malaga

AG for: Ballajura-Malaga, Bentley-Curtin, Cannington, Gosnells, Thornlie, Willetton

Clint has been involved in the manufacture, import and wholesaling of domestic Floorcare appliances for the past 18 years. Clint and Sue have been married for 20 years and have a son, Matthew and a daughter Tenille. Tenille was on Rotary Youth Exchange in 2007.

Clint was a founding member of the Malaga club in 2002, and served as President in 2004/2005. At District level Clint has held the posts of New Generations chairman and Conference Chief Sergeant. He is currently on the Youth Exchange committee. Since retiring from involvement in Basketball as a player, coach and administrator the family of Rotary has become Clint’s main enjoyment outside family and friends. Clint is looking forward to getting to know many other Rotarians through visiting the clubs he is AG to.
 
                         
Fred Hasson
Rotary Club of Ballajura-Malaga

AG for: Kalamunda, Midland, Mundaring, Swan Valley, Victoria Park

A Charter Member and Past President of Rotary Club of Malaga, Fred was recognised with a Paul Harris Fellowship in May 2007. Fred is married to Robyn with three adult children and eight grandchildren.

Fred recently sold his business and now works part time for the new owner and others. Fred intends to travel regularly both within Australia, overseas and is experiencing the delights of four wheel driving activities and camping.

Main interests outside Rotary are family, travelling, social bowls and the odd game of golf.
 
                         
Linda McLerie
Rotary Club of Hannans

AG for: Boulder, Hannans, Kalgoorlie

Linda is married to Greg and they have two beautiful daughters, Emma and Alesha, and two adorable grandsons, Dylan and Nathan.

Linda started in Rotary in June 2003 and plays an active role in her club and in the district.

She has made many friends through Rotary and wears her Rotary pin with pride, wherever she goes. Linda is very honoured to be part of DG Pushpa’s team.
 
                       
Jodie Sparks
Rotary Club of Ascot

AG for: Belmont, Kenwick, Maddington, South Perth-Burswood,Welshpool

Jodie first became involved through attending Handicamp in the early 1990s and subsequently joined Ascot Rotaract where she served as President as well as being involved in many areas of District. Jodie joined the Rotary Club of Ascot in 2000 and has served many positions within the club, including President (2006–07), Community, Club and Membership Director. Jodie has served on the District Handicamp committee for five years, and worked on the District Website and Newlsetter in 2007–08.

Jodie is the State Manager for a Communications Company, is married to Colin (who is also a Rotarian) and lives in Burswood with their spoilt cat Becky. When they are not involved in Rotary activities, Jodie and Colin like to travel and drink good wine...which they would like to do more of.
 
                       
Mark Williamson
Rotary Club of Mundaring

AG for: Ascot, Como, Mill Point, Northam, Swan Districts

Mark Williamson is married to Marilyn and has two children and three grandchildren.

Mark has worked in the automotive parts industry for over 25 years. He first joined Rotary in 1985 but due to work commitments left and returned in the early 1990s. Mark was President in 1995 and soon after that received a Paul Harris Fellow for his efforts at club and also District level.

Mark was the founding chairman of the Mundaring Local Drug Action Group providing three years
of service.

Mark is looking forward to assisting District Governor Pushpa and Mahes to make their year one of
